Follow Fridays: Baking Blogs

Oh hey! Welcome to the first installment of what I hope to be a regular thing — Follow Fridays. This week’s features are some of my favorite baking blogs. It’s always nice to discover new blogs or social media accounts. I love seeing what’s out there and take inspiration from them.

Between the last time I blogged and today, there’s been plenty of baking that took place. I’ve discovered some new bakers or baking blogs, and I must say, they are pretty awesome and are worth the follow on IG, Pinterest, or wherever! My favorite one especially is @theboywhobakes. Just about everything he makes is and looks amazing, delish, drool-worthy… fill-in-your-fave-word-here. Of the recipes I’ve tried of his, I’ve gone back and made them again and again. His brownie crinkle cookies are usually my go-to when I’m craving something extra chocolatey. And when I feel a little fancy, I make his kouign amann. I’ve yet to fully mastered or make it my own yet, but I am trying and I hope to get there! And of course, you can’t forget his chocolate chip cookies. He’s done enough test bakes to foolproof the recipe, it’s a no-brainer. You just make it and don’t ask any questions. The result will be so good, you’ll ask yourself why you didn’t make them sooner. Of course, if you’re looking for a twist, I do have an adaptation of his chocolate chips cookies recipe — check it out and let me know what you think!

Below are some baking blogs or bakers I should say that I’ve discovered over the last several years and are definite must-follows. Are there any others you think I should check out? Feel free to leave a comment below.

Must-Follow Baking Blogs

The Boy Who Bakes

Definitely my favorite of this lot, and I think that’s because Edd Kimber’s recipes are simple and approachable. I’m all about no-fuss. All his recipes are good, you can’t go wrong with any of them, especially his chocolate chip cookies recipe as I’ve mentioned. His latest creation is goodies baked in a 13×9 pan, hence his latest book, One Tin Bakes. All the recipes are spot on — who knew you could make all sorts of things using just one pan! The Portuguese custard tart is one I’ve been eyeing. Can’t wait to make it. πŸ™‚

Displaced Housewife

Rebecca Firth’s website is filled with lots of sweet eats, but I love how she throws in a savory pie post here and there. I mean, who doesn’t love pizza? Just about all her recipes are drool-worthy. If you love cookies, she’s got a super fab cookies recipe book out. All the recipes there are amazing.

Constellation Inspiration

Amy’s blog is filled with beautiful food photography. I could scroll endlessly and just stare at all her gorgeous creations. My favorites are the decorated sugar cookies and cream puffs.

Pies and Tacos

Don’t let the blog name fool you. This is a baking blog. When I think of Camila’s blog, I just picture all her cookie boxes. How can one create so many different kinds of cookies, and have all of them be perfect?! As you can see, those macarons are perfect. Oh, and macarons aren’t all that she bakes. She bakes lots more than just that, regular and vegan-friendly treats!

Butter and Brioche

I stumbled upon Thalia Ho’s Instagram a few years back and have always just secretly admire how beautiful her chocolate chip cookies were. The puddles and puddles of melty chocolate… yum! Chocolate chip cookies aren’t the only things she makes. Her blog is filled with lots of other good eats too, from beautifully decorated cakes to brioche doughnuts and more. I will say though, her brioche doughnut recipe is a must-make. It’s simple and produces a finished product that’s fluffy and soft, just as you’d expect. I’ve made it multiple times and it’s good every time.

This blog from Mei is filled with gorgeous food photos. I think my favorite thing about this site is that all the recipes on there are plant-based. It is amazing how beautiful and delicious-looking they all are, from main dishes to desserts. I’ve yet to make any, but trust me, they are on my “to-bake-list.”
